Birding

From the hauntingly beautiful sounds of the Common Loon and the Swainson’s Thrush, to the serene song of the White-throated Sparrow, birders will enjoy their stay at Trout Lake Resort.

A simple walk around the resort will reward birders with the sights and sounds of a variety of warblers, including the American Redstart, Magnolia Warbler, and the Northern Parula.  A short walk to the dock may yield the sights of the local osprey and loon hunting for dinner, or, if you’re lucky, a Northern Waterthrush hopping along the shoreline to catch his meal.

The loud call of the Ovenbird, the continuous song of the Red-eyed Vireo and the bubbling melodious song of the Winter Wren will entice you on a journey throughout the property where, even if you never manage to see them, you will have enjoyed the beautiful wildflowers along the way.   — Loyce Fandrei
